Henman fights back to keep Wimbledon hopes alive
21/06/2005 - 18:04:51Tim Henman tonight staged a gutsy fightback to keep his dreams of Wimbledon glory alive.
The British number one recovered from two sets down to beat Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen 3-6 6-7 6-4 7-5 6-2 after three hours 31 minutes on Centre Court.
Henman, the sixth seed, looked destined to lose in the opening round for the first time since his debut in 1994 when he tamely surrendered the first two sets in front of a stunned capacity crowd.
But despite being nowhere near his best throughout the contest, the 30-year-old completed his fourth career comeback from 2-0 down to book a second round clash with Russian Dmitry Tursunov.
