Blues look to nab Nafti
21/06/2005 - 14:04:14Birmingham hope to secure the permanent signing of Racing Santander midfielder Mehdi Nafti by the end of the week.
Nafti impressed Blues manager Steve Bruce when on loan from the Spanish club during the second half of last season.
He helped to temporarily fill the gap left after the controversial departure of Robbie Savage to Blackburn.
Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan said: “We’re hopeful of signing up Mehdi Nafti and I thought he did well in the midfield for us towards the end of last season.
“But I think, obviously, we have to find someone who is top line to play alongside him – or whoever Steve prefers in the middle of the park.”
Bruce is understood to be cool on making a move for Wigan midfielder Jimmy Bullard who has been linked with a move to St Andrews.
