HSE considering closing Leas Cross home
21/06/2005 - 07:29:15The Health Service Executive (HSE) is reportedly considering legal action to close the controversial Leas Cross nursing home in Dublin.
A television documentary highlighted the neglect and mistreatment of patients at the home in Swords, Co Dublin.
The HSE subsequently took over the running of the facility and it announced yesterday that it was removing more than 20 public patients because of safety fears.
It has also advised relatives of private patients to seek alternative accommodation.
Reports this morning said sources had indicated that the executive wanted to close the nursing home and could go to court to do so, but was mindful of the lengthy bureaucratic process involved.
