Council for Blind fury as traffic signals turned off
20/06/2005 - 13:41:27The National Council for the Blind has accused Dublin City Council of putting blind people at risk by switching off audible signals at pedestrian crossings.
The council has been turning off the signals on a phased basis for more than a year following complaints they were confusing.
The NCBI said the vast majority of the 2,000 or so blind pedestrians in Dublin rely on the signals to get around the city and it accused the council of completely ignoring their plight.
