Titus Alone wins Windsor Castle Stakes
18/06/2005 - 14:44:48Titus Alone maintained his unbeaten record in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot at York today.
The two-year-old, trained at Thirsk by Bryan Smart and ridden by Kevin Darley, was too good for the favourite Strike Up The Band, who was finishing runner-up for the second time at the big meeting this week. Tabaret was third.
There was drama at the start when both Charming Ballet and Great Chieftain were withdrawn.
Tabaret was smartly away, with The Bear in close attendance, but at halfway both Strike Up The Band and Titus Alone made their bids.
It was Titus Alone (11-4) who swept into the lead on the stands side a furlong out and he held Strike Up The Band by a length, with Tabaret a length and a half further away.
