Phelan gets Waterford chance
De La Salle clubman Brian Phelan is Waterford's only change for tomorrow's All-Ireland hurling qualifier Group B tie against Offaly at Dr Cullen Park (throw-in 7.15pm).
The Munster champions have replaced Dave Bennett, whom Phelan replaced in their provincial semi-final loss to Cork, with the same player as they bid for a back door route to All-Ireland glory.
Deise boss Justin McCarthy, who feels Offaly will "pose a serious threat" after their 31-point thrashing at the hands of Kilkenny just five days ago, has also made a positional switch with Paul Flynn and Eoin McGrath swapping positions in the Waterford forward unit.
Offaly, understandably, are delaying the naming of their side until just before the off in Carlow.
WATERFORD (SHC v Offaly): Stephen Brenner; Tom Feeney, Fergal Hartley, Eoin Murphy; Tony Browne, Ken McGrath, James Murray; Brian Phelan, Michael Walsh; Eoin Kelly (capt), Dan Shanahan, Eoin McGrath; John Mullane, Seamus Prendergast, Paul Flynn.
