Bruckheimer does passable job in thriller remake
17/06/2005 - 19:25:36Anyone who enjoyed John Carpenter’s cult classic might be less than enthusiastic about a remake of Assault on Precinct 13 (Sony), especially in the hands of Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jean-Francois Richet.
Yet this action thriller has lots going for it, especially Ethan Hawke who plays cop Jake Roenick stuck in a charge of a remote police station who suddenly finds himself lumbered with star witness/gangster Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne).
The sparks fly when Bishop’s enemies discover where he is and they lay siege to the station.
A pretty decent effort this which also sees Gabriel Byrne make an appearance. Extra include audio commentary, deleted scenes and five featurettes.
