ISEQ surges in early trading
The ISEQ looks like ending the week on a high today as the index has climbed 32.96 in morning trading to stand at 6,416.89.
Banking shares have all been on the rise today. Shares in Allied Irish Bank have climbed 13c to €17.38 while shares in Bank of Ireland have climbed 15c to €12.85.
Anglo Irish Bank shares have edged 1c higher to €9.89 while Irish Life & Permanent shares are also 1c higher, standing at €13.94.
Construction shares have fared well today. Shares in CRH are 3c higher at €21.80. Grafton shares have climbed 12c to €9.20 while Kingspan shares have climbed 4c to €9.39.
This comes as news emerges employment in private firms in the construction industry increased by 4% in April, according to the Central Statistics Office.
Elsewhere shares in Elan have climbed 15c to €5.95 today. The most traded shares today are Anglo Irish Bank, AIB, Tullow, Bank of Ireland and DCC.
