Irish retail sales driven by motoring industry
17/06/2005 - 12:15:34Irish retail sales continue to rise, according to figures published today by the Central Statistics Office.
The figures show the volume of retail sales increased by almost 4% in the 12 months to April this year.
With inflation taken into account, the value of these sales increased by 5.3% over the same period.
The CSO said the motor trade was driving most of the increase, while department stores had actually experienced a 2% decrease in sales during the year.
