Richardson giving City strikers chance to impress
15/06/2005 - 10:42:45Cork City manager Damien Richardson has challenged his players to fill the void left by Kevin Doyle’s departure.
Richardson has cash at his disposal following Doyle’s €117,000 move to English side Reading last week, but insists that he will only spend it if his current strikers do not produce the form expected.
That leaves the likes of John O’Flynn, Neale Fenn and the injured Denis Behan with three weeks to prove they have what it takes before the transfer window reopens.
Richardson said: “The players have got an opportunity to show to me we don’t need anyone. But if we do need to reorganise, hopefully we will be able to do that.
“I have to say there wouldn’t be many players around and available who would be able to come in and make our squad better. That’s the reality.”
