Hain: IRA statements must be verified
15/06/2005 - 15:51:12Northern Secretary Peter Hain has insisted that the Taoiseach is made aware that any IRA statement on standing down must be verified.
Mr Hain said: "Given the events of the past year or so it needs to be validated, it needs to be verified and that is the important principle that I'm sure he will agree with.
"If we can make a commitment to that effect and we are able to see it takes than I think we can then establish the basis for inclusive governance of all those parties including, I hope, Sinn Féin."
