McNamara completes Wolves move

14/06/2005 - 15:54:00
Celtic captain and Scotland international Jackie McNamara has completed his Bosman free transfer to Wolves.

The 31-year-old utility player, who can play in both full-back positions as well as midfield, has joined the Molineux club on a two-year contract after turning down the offer of a new one-year deal at Parkhead.

McNamara said: “I made my mind up last night and gave my word to Wolves and Glenn Hoddle I would sign.

““So as far as I was concerned, all I had to do was travel down today and have the medical.

“I want to play in the Premiership and as far as I’m concerned, Wolves are a Premiership club in the wrong division.”

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: “Celtic went into overdrive to keep Jackie and we see this as a massive coup for our club.”
