Taoiseach hopes IRA statement will be soon
14/06/2005 - 16:33:10The Taoiseach has said he hopes it will not take too much longer for the IRA to complete its internal consultation after an appeal made by Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams.
Bertie Ahern will travel to London tomorrow, where he will meet both Tony Blair and Ian Paisley for the first time since their successes in the British elections.
He's told the Dáil that he's hoping the IRA will make a statement soon.
“When it does come it must be clear and decisive and embrace an end to all paramilitarism and criminality,” Mr Ahern said.
He added that both the British and Irish governments will expect Unionists “to participate in fully inclusive partnership politics in Northern Ireland".
