Kingdom gear up for Munster semi-final

13/06/2005 - 10:31:06
All-Ireland champions Kerry stepped up their preparations for Sunday's Munster SFC semi-final by walloping Wexford 5-21 to 1-13 in a challenge match yesterday.

With top-scorer Colm Cooper sidelined due to a thigh strain, the Kingdom's Eoin Brosnan shone out at Fitzgerald Stadium - pointing at will and turning in a man-of-the-match display ahead of next weekend's Gaelic Grounds clash with Limerick.

The Dr Crokes forward was ably assisted by Dara O Cinneide (1-4) and Ronan O'Connor (1-1) who notched their brace of goals early in the second half.

Kerry manager Jack O'Connor is still waiting on outstanding defender Seamus Moynihan to return to fitness, and he remains a doubt for the Munster semi with persistent back and calf injuries.

Wexford yesterday were once again served best by All-star Mattie Forde, who contributed 1-7 of their tally. Pat Roe's men take on Dublin in this Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final double header at Croke Park.

The Model men will be boosted by the return of skipper John Hudson, who missed their quarter-final defeat of Carlow due to a muscle strain.
