Kevin McHugh hit a late winner to put dominant Harps into the third round.
Paddy McGrenaghan and Chris Breen worked a one-two down the left to cross fro McHugh to shoot home with six minutes remaining.
McHugh had hit a post on 64 minutes and then had an effort cleared off the line by Derek Jordan.
Breen also had a shot hacked off the goalline by Cats' skipper Aidan Price on 71 minutes.
