US soldier killed, seven rebels injured in fighting
10/06/2005 - 17:12:31One US soldier and seven rebels were killed and three American troops were wounded in fighting today in eastern Afghanistan, the US military said.
The clash occurred in Paktika province, near the Pakistani border, after the insurgents ambushed a patrol of US-led coalition and Afghan forces, a military statement said.
Two of the wounded US soldiers were evacuated to a nearby base for treatment while the third was treated and returned to duty, it said.
