The French may know how to say "Non!" and they may know how to make terrific films... but sometimes, just sometimes...
Nobody does tummy-button gazing quite like the French, especially when there's love in the air; love of the depressing kind.
Thus, we have here a triangle set around parallel love stories, with much involvement of fatal diseases, mental anguish and faltering relationships. It's not a bundle of chuckles as we tramp through a downbeat plot of cloying introspection and out-of-kilter characters in a storyline that starts from nowhere and goes no place special.
