Brittain considering Shumaal options
09/06/2005 - 15:00:39Impressive recent Sandown winner Bahar Shumaal could be supplemented for the Budweiser Irish Derby on June 26, although trainer Clive Brittain promises there will be more to come next season.
A son of Dubai Millennium, the colt was just beaten on his debut but followed up by three and a half lengths at the Esher track last month and is entered in next week’s King Edward VII Stakes.
Brittain told At The Races: “He’s working tomorrow and a certain decision will be made but he could well be supplemented for the Irish Derby and go direct for that.
“That’s certainly on the cards but we feel we’ve got a star in the making and he’s coming along in leaps and bounds.
“He’s a gentle giant and I think he’ll be challenging the best as a four-year-old.”
