Rain threat to Perth

04/06/2005 - 18:35:21
Officials at Perth have called a precautionary inspection for 6.45am tomorrow morning.

Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead said: “We had a warm and sunny morning which took the ‘heavy’ out of the ground, but we then had 11 millimetres of rain in just over an hour and a half.

“There’s a risk of further rain tonight until around seven or eight o’clock, but after that it is meant to be dry, with basically a dry morning and brighter spells in the afternoon.

“If that is the case we should be fine, but there are people travelling from a long way off and we will have a precautionary inspection just in case.

“The ground has gone back to soft, heavy in places.”
