Attraction abandons Queen Anne Stakes plans
Trainer Mark Johnston has abandoned plans to target the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot at York with his dual-Classic winner Attraction.
The filly has not quite recovered from her exertions in Hong Kong, where she trailed in 11th of 13 behind Bullish Luck in the Champions Mile last month.
A statement on the website www.markjohnstonracing.com said: “It has been decided that Attraction will bypass the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting in favour of a campaign later in the summer.
“A minor sprain to her left-fore fetlock joint, sustained when racing in Hong Kong, is taking longer to resolve than had been anticipated and so, although she is sound and continuing in ridden exercise, it has been decided that she should have more time.
“All being well she should reappear in the Falmouth Stakes at the Newmarket July meeting.”
Attraction finished second in the Group One HQ contest last season, when she was beaten two and a half lengths by Soviet Song.
