Live register numbers up 2,600 in May
03/06/2005 - 11:12:09The seasonally-adjusted Live Register total increased from 154,200 in April to 156,800 in May, an increase of 2,600. This compares with a decrease of 4,800 in April.
In the year to May 2005, there was an unadjusted decrease of 11,146 (-6.9%). This compares with an unadjusted decrease of 13,401 (-7.9%) in the year to April 2005.
The standardised unemployment rate in May was 4.2%. This compares with 4.4% in October 2004, based on the Quarterly National Household Survey.
In the month, the estimated number of casual and part-time workers on the Live Register was 8,183 males and 12,908 females.
