Rovers hung on for a valuable point in their battle to get off the foot of the table in a poor game at Belfield.
Chances from Paul Byrne, Stephen Hurley, Patrick McWalter and Robbie Martin were missed by UCD as Rovers survived intact until half time.
Rovers might have snatched it at the death but Darren Quigley held Dave Mooney’s header from a Keith O’Halloran free-kick.
