Kewell and Baros to start for Reds
25/05/2005 - 18:51:48Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez sprang two surprises with his Champions League final team to face AC Milan with Milan Baros preferred up front to Djibril Cisse and Harry Kewell given the opportunity to redeem himself as a support striker after a disappointing season.
It meant Dietmar Hamann was left out of a Liverpool team who were very much the underdogs again after a remarkable run to the final.
Milan’s side was very much as predicted, with Hernan Crespo up front, with the only surprise being that Filippo Inzaghi was not even on the bench.
LIVERPOOL v AC Milan: Dudek, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Traore, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Riise, Kewell, Baros.
AC Milan team: Dida, Cafu, Stam, Nesta, Maldini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka, Gattuso, Crespo Shevchenko.
