Teenager put on probation after stabbing
25/05/2005 - 14:51:52A teenager, who stabbed man after he had been caught trying to steal his car, has been given the Probation Act after paying €1,500 in compensation to his victim.
The Dublin Children’s Court heard that the teenage boy - aged 17 - had pleaded guilty earlier to stabbing the man in the Dunsink area in Finglas, on St Patrick’s Day last year.
The man had seen the boy attempting to steal his car and tried to catch him.
A struggle ensued and the teenager produced a knife.
The victim was stabbed once on his arm and once to his leg.
He had been ordered to give the victim the €1,500’s compensation, which was fully paid to the court yesterday with a final instalment of €500.
“You are getting an opportunity I hope you use it positively,” Judge Cormac Dunne told the teenager.
