The value of house prices nationally rose by just 0.3% in April, according to the latest edition of the permanent tsb/ESRI House Price Index.

This was down slightly on the 0.4% recorded in March and significantly lower than the growth level of April 2004 (1.2%).

This month’s edition of the index also reveals that over the twelve months up to the end of April 2005 the growth in national prices was 6.5% almost half the equivalent growth rate to April 2004 (12.9%).

This continues the downward trend in the rates of growth recorded in the 12 months to the end of November '04 (9.8%), December '04 (8.6%), January '05 (8.5%), February ’05 (7.9%) and March ’05 (7.5%).
