Serena out of French Open
20/05/2005 - 15:50:53World number four Serena Williams has pulled out of the French Open with an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old ace, who won this year's Australian Open, has lifted seven Grand Slam titles in her career, including one in the French capital in 2002 with victory over her sister Venus.
Williams, who originally hurt her ankle in the Amelia Island tournament at the start of April, was one of the top contenders to lift the trophy again this year along with Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova and Amelie Mauresmo.
