Philippoussis to make Stella comeback

19/05/2005 - 11:38:05
Mark Philippoussis will launch his latest comeback at Queen’s Club next month after being granted a wild-card entry to the Stella Artois Championships.

The Australian was champion at the event in 1997 and has confirmed his entry for the tournament which runs from June 6-12.

Injuries and a run of poor form have seen Philippoussis plummet from ninth to 185th in the world rankings since early 2004.

The 28-year-old, known by the nickname ‘Scud’, will face stiff competition in west London, with defending champion Andy Roddick, three-time winner Lleyton Hewitt, and Britons Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski also entered.

Philippoussis has refused a wild card to the French Open, which begins in Paris on Monday.
