Ellis starts working on O'Leary's shopping list

Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis insists he is stepping up his bid to bring in new players during the summer.

Craig Bellamy, Aaron Hughes, Robert Huth, Scott Parker and Kevin Phillips are understood to be potential targets for Villa manager David O’Leary.

Ellis said: “From Monday of this week I have been working round the clock, talking to chairmen of the clubs of which the manager has chosen certain players.

“I am keeping the manager informed. These things are not done overnight. They never were. We are working on players. I am confident we can get some of them.”
