Eircom interconnection market domination confirmed
19/05/2005 - 13:05:32A report by the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) published today confirmed eircom's domination in telephone interconnection markets.
The conclusions of its review of the wholesale interconnection markets on fixed-line telephone
networks was carried out under the EU regulatory framework for telecommunications.
ComReg has concluded that eircom has significant market power (SMP) in all of the markets defined.
In addition, ComReg concludes that all operators providing fixed termination services for calls also have significant market power on their individual networks.
The EU regulatory framework for telecommunications requires ComReg to impose obligations on operators who have significant market power.
