Addicks release young trio
18/05/2005 - 14:35:34Charlton midfielders Stacy Long and Neil McCafferty have been released by the Barclays Premiership outfit.
The 20-year-olds are joined by third-year scholar Adam Gross in leaving The Valley.
Long, an England Under-20 international, ends a 10-year association with the Addicks while Irishman McCafferty joined the club’s academy ranks as a 16-year-old in 2001.
Both players failed to make a single first-team appearance and will now look to rebuild their careers elsewhere.
McCafferty said: “I’m a little disappointed it has ended without me getting a chance in the first team.”
