Fine Gael promises free health checks if elected
18/05/2005 - 16:18:23Fine Gael has said it will introduce a free health-screening programme for all adults if it's returned to power.
The party unveiled proposals today to make screening available nationwide, which it claims could make us the healthiest nation in Europe.
Under the proposals tests for women would begin at 20 and for men at 30.
Health checks for men and women would be carried out every five years
The plans also propose the establishment of an interactive national patient database.
Fine Gael says the health tests would free up space in hospitals and ultimately save money for the tax payer and the State.
