UCD inflicted a second successive defeat on early pacesetters Derry to ease their own anxieties.
The students had the better start, availing of an early injury to Derry’s Kevin Deery to score what proved their winning goal on ten minutes.
Robbie Martin collected Stephen Hurley's pass to beat two defenders out on the left before shooting past David Forde.
