Curbishley considers defensive options

29/04/2005 - 10:37:17
Charlton manager Alan Curbishley has some defensive concerns ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Premiership clash with Manchester United at The Valley.

Full-back Hermann Hreidarsson has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury but Paul Konchesky is now available again following suspension and could slot in on the left side of the back four.

Luke Young will probably move across to his natural right-back slot after filling in for Hreidarsson at Norwich last weekend, so versatile Bulgarian Radostin Kishishev would then be freed up to return to the midfield.

Curbishley must again decide whether to use Francis Jeffers as a lone striker or to switch to a 4-4-2 formation and utilise the likes of Kevin Lisbie or Jonatan Johansson alongside him in attack.

Provisional squad: Kiely, Young, El Karkouri, Fortune, Konchesky, Kishishev, Holland, Murphy, Hughes, Rommedahl, Johansson, Jeffers, Andersen, Perry, Euell, Lisbie, Thomas, Fish, Fuller.
