Wilkinson signs new deal with Falcons
Jonny Wilkinson has signed a new three-year contract with Newcastle Falcons.
Wilkinson’s new deal was announced as he prepares to make his first start in Newcastle colours for seven weeks by lining up against Zurich Premiership opponents London Irish on Saturday.
England fly-half Wilkinson, who joined the Falcons in 1997, has endured a catalogue of injuries since his extra-time drop goal won the World Cup for England 17 months ago.
“I think going for a three-year contract gives a good indication to everyone of how happy I am here,” said Wilkinson.
“We have quality people at the Falcons.
“If I didn’t feel we were capable of achieving our ambitions then I could have gone elsewhere, but this bunch of guys we have are going to fight long and hard to get to where we want to be in the coming years.”
