Hreidarsson blow for Charlton
Charlton defender Hermann Hreidarsson has been ruled out of his side’s last three Barclays Premiership games with a knee injury.
The Iceland international, 30, missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Norwich after jarring his knee against Aston Villa four days earlier.
The injury has since been diagnosed as a sprained posterior cruciate ligament problem which requires six to eight weeks’ rest – meaning he could also miss his country’s home World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Malta.
“I knew there was something wrong. The knee was numb and felt a bit loose. I knew it wasn’t right,” Hreidarsson told Charlton’s official website, www.cafc.co.uk.
He added: “It’s frustrating and disappointing, but I’ve played quite a lot of games this season so I can’t really complain overall.
“I’ve played all the games for Iceland as well, but it’s still a shame that I will miss the last four games for Charlton because I wanted to help the club finish with a bang.”
