Exeter call morning inspection

26/04/2005 - 13:33:22
Exeter will hold a precautionary inspection at 7am ahead of tomorrow’s meeting due to the threat of rain.

Officials at the Devon track had initially called an inspection for 2pm today, but they looked at the track earlier than expected and found conditions had improved.

Yesterday’s areas of waterlogging have now gone and the going has improved to heavy, soft in places, but some rain is forecast for later today.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson said: “The forecast is for the rain to come later today, but we have already walked the track and it is perfectly raceable.

“The rain we are forecast is set to be gone by about nine or 10 tonight, so we are very optimistic.

“Things are much better than they were yesterday, partly due to the fact that we did not get the rain we expected, but we will take a precautionary look in the morning.”
