Govt report recommends reopening of western rail corridor
26/04/2005 - 09:01:27A report commissioned by the Government has reportedly recommended the reopening a stretch of the western rail corridor between Ennis, Co Clare, and Claremorris, Co Mayo.
The 185km stretch of railway has been closed since 1976, but last month the Taoiseach told the Dáil that he was in favour of reopening it.
This morning's reports said it would cost around €365m to reopen the entire corridor and €170m to reopen the stretch between Ennis and Claremorris.
