Limerick gardaí investigate assault spate reports
Gardaí in Limerick are investigating a number of serious assaults on female students in the city over the past 10 days, according to reports.
Reports this morning said the latest attack happened just before 10.30pm on Wednesday night, when a female student was grabbed from behind after leaving the University of Limerick campus bar.
The girl's assailant tried to pull her to the ground, but she managed to escape his grip and flee.
This morning's reports said gardaí were investigating two similar attacks in the preceding days, at least one of which was being treated as an attempted rape.
However, it is unclear if the same person is responsible for all three incidents.
The students' union at the University of Limerick is selling personal alarms at cost price in response to the attacks.
