Ahern refuses to reveal Aer Lingus position
22/04/2005 - 10:34:48Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has refused to say yet whether he is in favour of the privatisation of Aer Lingus.
Yesterday, Transport Minister Martin Cullen said he would like to see a majority stake in the airline sold to the private sector in order to raise the funds needed for the airline to expand.
He also said he would like to see the Dublin Airport Authority playing a major part in operating a new second terminal.
Asked about the matter in Co Wicklow this morning, Mr Ahern said he would not be commenting until a decision had been made by the Cabinet.
He said Mr Cullen was due to bring his proposals before his ministerial colleagues shortly and a decision would then be made following in-depth discussions.
