Disciplinarian Dallas to quit Scottish football

21/04/2005 - 14:05:30
Scotland’s top referee Hugh Dallas has confirmed he will retire at the end of the season.

The 47-year-old will call it quits a year before he had planned to but he insists his decision had nothing to do with with the storm that followed his decision to award Rangers an injury-time penalty against Hearts back in March.

Dallas said: “The Tynecastle incident had no bearing on my decision in any shape or form. I have been in discussions with the SFA about my future for some time and now I feel the time is right for me to go at the end of the season.”
