Shop around for hire purchase, advises IFSRA

The Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority has advised people to shop around when planning to buy goods on hire purchase agreements.

IFSRA said today that a survey of the 11 main hire purchase providers found significant differences in the charges levied by the various firms.

It said a consumer could make savings of up to €1,100 when taking out a five-year hire purchase agreement for a car costing €19,000.
