Rule 42 on agenda at GAA Congress today

It is a seminal day in the history of the Gaelic Athletic Association as the debate on the controversial Rule 42 issue which prohibits the playing of ‘foreign’ sports at Croke park will be feverishly debated among many more issues at headquarters this afternoon.

Congress opened last night at Croke Park.

Also on the agenda at Congress this afternoon will be the somewhat overshadowed presidential election between favourite Nicky Brennan of Kilkenny and Cork's Christy Cooney,

The decision to retain or discard the so-far controversial experimental league rules will also be ruled on by delegates as will the in a compulsory wearing of helmets in hurling from the age of 21 down to juvenile level.
