Giggs out of semi-final
Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has been ruled out of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Newcastle at the Millennium Stadium.
The Wales international, whose mazy solo effort against Arsenal at the same stage of the competition in 1999 was voted one of the finest goals the tournament has ever seen, has failed to recover from a hamstring problem despite intensive treatment.
Darren Fletcher (knee) and Louis Saha (calf) are also missing as the Red Devils look to move one step closer to defending the trophy, although Rio Ferdinand seems certain to play despite picking up a heavy knock in the dismal defeat at Norwich last week.
