Retail sales up 8.6% in year to end of February
15/04/2005 - 11:50:31The volume of retail sales in Ireland was up 8.6% in February of this year compared to the same month last year, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO said the value of retail sales, which takes account of higher prices, increased by 9.6% in the same period.
It said the motor trade accounted for much of the increase and, if cars were excluded from the figures, the volume of sales increased by 6.2% and the value by 6.6%.
