Cork keeper stays put
14/04/2005 - 15:22:18Michael Devine has agreed a new two-year contract with Cork City which will keep him at Turner's Cross until the end of the 2007 season.
Goalkeeper Devine joined Cork from Waterford United in 2000 and has been first choice ever since, though he has come under increasing pressure from U21 Mark McNulty in recent seasons.
Ever-present last season, Devine set an Irish record for keeping three clean sheets in a row in European football when he thwarted Malmo and, twice, NEC Nijmegen.
Manager Damien Richardson said: "He's a top goalkeeper and I am delighted that he has signed a new contract. It means we keep plenty of competition in the goalkeeping department."
