Buffel boost for Rangers

14/04/2005 - 14:36:06
Thomas Buffel has handed Rangers a timely boost by declaring himself fit to return alongside Barry Ferguson in the Bank of Scotland Premier League game at Dunfermline on Sunday.

The Belgium international has missed the last two matches with a thigh injury he picked up in the World Cup qualifying win over San Marino last month.

And Ferguson was suspended for the shock home defeat by Dundee United on Tuesday.

But the former Feyenoord man insists he is ready for the trip to Fife this weekend.

Buffel said: “I will be fine for the match on Sunday and I’m hoping to get a run out against Dunfermline.

“It’s important that as many players as possible make themselves available for the coming matches.”

The 23-year-old also believes he needs to play at East End Park to put himself in contention for the crunch Old Firm game at Ibrox on April 24.

The Light Blues fell two points behind Celtic this week after the Hoops’ 4-0 win at Livingston last night.

But Rangers will be further boosted by the return of Ferguson, who was suspended after receiving a red card for a clash with Richie Foran at Motherwell on April 3.

The Scotland international said: “I was disappointed by the red card at Motherwell.

“I reacted when I shouldn’t have. I’m trying to eliminate that kind of thing from my game.”
