Hartson back on a high
Hat-trick hero John Hartson has set his sights on finishing top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League scoring charts after firing champions Celtic back to the head of the table.
The Welsh international striker ended a four-match drought to take his tally for the season to 27, already his best-ever haul, before a Stanislav Varga goal rounded off the Hoops’ 4-0 win over Livingston last night.
And, having feared he would not score again this season, with six league games and a Tennent’s Scottish Cup final left, Hartson wants to carry on hitting the net.
“I have not been as sharp as I was before I went away with Wales and picked up an ankle injury,” he said.
“Goals are a big part of my game and it was nice to score again. It wasn’t just the goals but my movement as well felt a lot better.
“It has been playing on my mind a little bit but I am four ahead now (of Nacho Novo and Derek Riordan) and I want to keep banging in the goals and finish top-scorer.”
