Stressed diner drops 'finger in chilli' claim
A woman who claimed she found a human finger buried in her dinner at a Wendy’s restaurant has decided not to sue, it emerged today.
Anna Ayala dropped her claim against the fast-food chain because the issue “has caused her great emotional distress,” her lawyer said.
The 39-year-old allegedly discovered the 1.5-inch finger tip in her chilli at a Wendy’s restaurant in San Jose.
The company is adamant that the digit did not originate in its ingredients. No employees had lost any fingers, and no suppliers had reported any hand or finger injuries, it said.
Wendy’s has offered a £27,700 reward (€38,700) reward for information.
The local coroner searched for a match in its database but drew a blank. DNA testing is still underway.
Police searched Ms Ayala’s Las Vegas home as part of the investigation, causing the woman to claim her family had been “treated like animals".
