Paediatrician set to take HSE post

A Dublin-based paediatrician is reportedly set to become CEO of the Health Service Executive, the body established by the Government to replace Ireland's health boards.

Reports this morning said the HSE's board of directors had recommended Professor Brendan Drumm for the position yesterday. He could take up the job if his appointment is ratified by the cabinet.

Prof. Drumm is currently professor of paediatrics at University College Dublin and a consultant paediatrician at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin.
