City to honour Cobain in signposts
12/04/2005 - 10:16:31The city of Aberdeen in Washington is to pay homage to the city's tragic son Kurt Cobain by adding the words "Come As You Are" to its signposts.
More than a decade after the Nirvana frontman's death, locals are embracing the legacy of Cobain with a series of tributes and memorials.
The first reminder of the rock legend will greet visitors as they drive into the city. The title of one of his signature hits has been added to the town's welcome signs.
Cobain's grandfather Leland Cobain said: "I think it's a good idea, and it's about time. I have been waiting for it to go up."
A locally-funded Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee also plans to erect other tributes to the Nirvana star, including a park and a youth centre.
